What Is Ulta’s Return Policy?
Ulta’s return policy, in a nutshell, is that if you’re not happy with your purchase and still have 60 days to return it, you’ll get a full refund.
You have 60 days from the date of purchase to get a full refund on your Ulta purchase, which is pretty short and sweet. Bring your item and receipt (or packing slip if you ordered online) to the store to start the return process.
Have you already passed the 60-day window? Don’t worry; you can still get a refund, but it will be in the form of an Ulta Beauty store credit, so remember that you have 60 days to do so.
You can also exchange the product for the same thing. In exchange, you don’t have to pay anything. Just bring in the item you want to exchange. If you want to exchange for something that costs more or less, you’ll have to pay the difference (or they will if lower).
Ulta’s Return Policy
If you’re unhappy with a product, you can return it to any Ulta Beauty store and get a full refund or an exchange.
Read First, a few details:
- All original parts must be included with a return.
- Have you lost your receipt? No problem! We can find your purchases with your Ultimate Rewards member ID or through your ulta.com account.
- You can get a different item or store credit when you return something with a gift receipt.
- If you can’t find the receipt and we can’t find the original purchase price, your refund will be an in-store credit equal to the lowest price at which Ulta Beauty sold the product in the 90 days before the return. Guests will need to show a valid ID from the government, like a driver’s license, state ID, or military ID.
- Ulta Beauty has the right to limit returns if we think our generous Returns Policy is being abused. This is so that many customers can have the best shopping and product-return experience possible (such as excessive returns, reseller activity, or fraud).
- Items bought from other stores, dealers, or resellers, not just Ulta Beauty, can’t be returned, refunded, or exchanged. This includes items bought at Ulta Beauty at Target.
- You can’t return or exchange items bought at Ulta or ulta.com at an Ulta Beauty at Target location.
- One-time-use coupons that have already been used can’t be returned.
- You can’t get cash back when you return a gift card.
- If you return an item with a free product or gift and the return is made within 60 days of the original purchase, you will get a full refund.
How to return or exchange a product
For purchases made in Ulta Beauty stores
Bring the item(s) you want to return to any Ulta Beauty store and ask an employee to help you make a return. We’ll be happy to assist you!
Product(s) returned within 60 days of the original purchase with the original receipt (or an Ultimate Rewards member ID that can be used to verify the return in our system) will be refunded in full using the same method of payment that was used to buy the product(s). If not, the money will be given back in the form of store credit.
If you bought something online (like with PayPal or PayPal Credit) and then returned it to a store, you will get a refund on your preferred credit card or store credit.
If you want to exchange something for the same thing, you don’t have to pay anything. Just bring it in, and you’re all set. But if you exchange for a more expensive item, you will have to pay the price difference and sales tax. In the same way, if you exchange an item for one that costs less, you will get the difference in price and sales tax back.
For purchases made online at ulta.com or using the Ulta Beauty App
When you return an item within 60 days of purchase with the original receipt (or if we can verify the return in our system using your Ultimate Rewards member ID), we’ll credit your account in full. If this is not possible, the refund will be issued as a store credit.
Merchandise purchased online and returned to a store will be reimbursed to the original payment method or awarded as a store credit.
You don’t have to pay anything if you want to return an item in exchange for the same one. If you want to swap something for something more expensive, you’ll have to pay the difference in price and any applicable sales tax. Also, if you return an item in exchange for one that costs less, you’ll get a refund for the price difference plus any applicable sales tax.
Returning your online order by mail
You can return items to any Ulta Beauty location to receive a refund more quickly and without incurring any shipping expenses (see Returning your online order to one of our Stores). However, if you prefer to send your return to Ulta Beauty through the mail, you will be responsible for paying the return postage costs. Returns shipped COD will not be accepted.
Within 60 days of the order process date shown on the packing slip, you may return the product for a full refund using the same method of payment that you used to purchase the item. Ulta Beauty eGift Cards will be refunded for purchases made using store gift cards.
If you’re as well put together as we think, please return the merchandise in the original shipping carton. Re-address your package to the following address using the return label included on the packing slip:

All items must be returned to Ulta Beauty via ground postage only. Some of the things you ordered might be illegal to ship to your country (HAZMAT). Aerosol products, some alcohol-based products, products with pressurized ingredients, and others fall under the category of hazardous materials (e.g., hairspray, nail polish and items containing flammable, volatile or corrosive chemicals). Due to limits and rules about air transportation, the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) mandates that all Hazardous Materials be sent exclusively via ground transport.
Rewards points for Ultimate
If you return an item that earned you rewards points, you will lose those points.
If you use your Ultimate Rewards points to make a purchase and then decide to send it back, the points you used to make the purchase will be credited back to your account right away.
Only the number of points that are proportional to the number of goods returned will be credited back to your Ultimate Rewards account if you made a multi-item purchase and only returned a portion of it. Your next purchase will automatically award you those points.
If you change your mind about the item you bought with points, you can return it and get a full refund.
Deposit slips were refunded.
Any bank-returned check will incur a service fee. Electronic submission of NSF checks to your bank is permitted by state law.
It’s important to note that you have ten days to return an item.
Returned merchandise policy
To us, quality is paramount. The safety of the items we sell is a top priority for us. Used, damaged, or expired items cannot be sold again at Ulta Beauty.
All of the goods sold in our stores and on our website are of the most excellent quality possible, which is why we have implemented strict policies, training, and procedures to guarantee this.

Order Cancellation Policy
When you place an order with ulta.com, we’ll get to work on fulfilling it as soon as you click the SUBMIT ORDER button. As soon as an order is submitted, it is processed immediately, so we cannot make modifications or cancel the order.

Redeeming coupons in an Ulta Beauty store
Present coupon at purchase to receive a discount and use it before the expiration date. Not valid for use with any other offer or discount. Coupons and reward certificates can’t be used to pay for previous purchases.
We only use our Standard service for orders that qualify for our free or discounted shipping promotions. Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, Post Office Boxes, Armed Forces Post Offices, and Oversized Items are not eligible for FREE or discounted shipping.
All promotions, offers, discounts, and coupons used at the time of purchase will be prorated and taken out of any refunds or credits, including loyalty points.
ulta.com does everything it can to ensure all the items it lists are in stock.
If an item goes out of stock after you place your order, we will ship the rest of your order and send you an email telling you that one of the items you chose is no longer available.
You won’t be charged for the item that is out of stock. We don’t have a backorder system, so we won’t ship the item when it comes back in stock.
