If you’re unhappy with a Sephora purchase or gift for any reason, you can usually return new or gently used items within 30 days of purchase and get a full refund back to the method of payment you used to buy them.

If you want to return something between 31 and 60 days after you bought it, you can get an online credit (if you send it back to us by mail) or store credit. You must have proof of purchase to make the return.

Please look over our return, refund, and exchange policies below for purchases made on Sephora.com, purchases of Sephora items on third-party marketplaces (like Instagram, Google, YouTube, and Facebook), purchases made in Sephora stores, and Instacart or Shipt orders.

Products must be new or barely used when they are returned. Sephora keeps an eye on returns to ensure they aren’t being abused and reserves the right to limit returns or exchanges at any time.

All Beauty Insider points and money spent will be taken away when the transaction is processed. Sephora decides if a return is valid and if it will be accepted. We may ask to see your driver’s license or other government ID to make sure you are who you say you are.

Sephora.com and Third-Party Marketplaces Purchases

Sephora.com purchases and purchases of Sephora items on third-party marketplaces like Instagram, Google, YouTube and Facebook can be quickly returned for free (no return shipping or handling fees) to any of our Sephora locations for fast processing or by mail if you use our pre-paid return shipping label (follow the return procedures described below)

We’re sorry but we can’t refund your original shipping costs if any unless the return was because of an error on our part.

If you send your return by mail please give us 30 days to process it. Once your return has been processed you will receive an email. Your bank may take longer to show the change on your account.

Suppose you paid with Klarna or Afterpay, and Sephora receives your new or gently used item within 30 days of purchase. In that case, you will get a full refund to your Klarna or Afterpay account, and the amount and length of your payment plan will be adjusted accordingly.

If you paid with Klarna or Afterpay and returned a new or gently used item within 31–60 days of your purchase, Sephora will give you an online credit that you can use at sephora.com but not in stores.

This credit will NOT be added to your Klarna or Afterpay account, and you MUST keep paying Klarna or Afterpay as agreed upon in the original contract.

Items bought on Sephora.com or a third-party marketplace can’t be returned by mail or in stores and you won’t get your money back if it’s been more than 60 days since you bought them.

Items sent to Sephora outside the return window, not in new or gently used condition without the original Sephora packing slip or not bought at Sephora may not be refunded or sent back to you.

We won’t replace or refund missing or broken orders or items that we think were sent to a parcel forwarding company.

Sephora doesn’t offer mail-in exchanges for items bought on Sephora.com or third-party marketplaces. However you can exchange your new or gently used product at any of our stores within 60 days of purchase.

Suppose the return policy and procedures on the original Sephora packing slip differ from the information above. In that case the information above applies to the return of your Sephora.com purchase on Sephora.com or your Sephora purchase on a third-party marketplace.

Online Purchase Return Procedures

1. Sephora.com Returns by Mail

  • Using the link above indicate which items will be returned and the reason for each return.**
  • Include the Sephora original packing slip with your items.
  • Package your return item in the manufacturer’s product box and Sephora packaging (if available). Otherwise, pack your return in a well-padded envelope or box to prevent damage in transit.
  • Print the Prepaid Return Label or request a printerless FedEx Mobile Return Code (if available) from the link above.
  • Drop off the package at one of the specified FedEx locations.***
  • Track your return using the link above.
  • You will receive an email confirmation when your return is processed.

It can take up to 30 days for your account to be credited or for an online store credit to be sent. Please remember that it may take longer for your bank to show the change.

Items bought at a Sephora store, with Buy Online Pickup in Store, Same Day Delivery, or through Instacart or Shipt cannot be sent back by mail.

Some intimate care items, gift cards, and specific Sephora Favorites Kits are final sales and can’t be returned by mail or in-store.

You can return a new or gently used item bought from Sephora.com or a third-party marketplace within 60 days by going to any freestanding Sephora store. Please bring the original packing slip from Sephora and the credit or debit card you used to place the order.

Gift Returns

If you’re returning a Sephora gift you got in the mail and didn’t want the refund back to the person who bought it call 1-877-SEPHORA (1-877-737-4672) before Mailing the return to set up the gift return under your account.

Your refund will come in the form of an online store credit that you can use whenever you want on Sephora.com. You Can also redeem your online store credit by Calling us at 1-877-SEPHORA (1-877-737-4672).

Sephora In-store Purchases, Buy Online and Pick Up Orders, Same-Day Delivery Orders and Instacart & Shipt Orders

Sephora products bought in-store, through Buy Online and Picked Up, Same Day Delivery, Instacart, or Shipt can be returned or exchanged at a store location within 60 days if they are in new or gently used condition and have a receipt or gift receipt.

See the table below for details on how your refund will be paid. If you show a gift receipt, you will get a Sephora store credit that can only be used at Sephora.

Orders made in-store, through Buy Online and Pick Up, for Same-Day Delivery, or through Instacart or Shipt cannot be sent back by mail. Orders from Buy Online that were picked up at a Kohl’s store must be sent back to a Kohl’s store. All gift cards are sold as-is and cannot be returned.

Sephora store credit doesn’t expire, can’t be turned into cash (unless required by law), reloaded, sold, or given to someone else. It can only be used at Sephora stores (not at Sephora.com or through Customer Service). If you lose or steal a Sephora gift card, you won’t be able to get it replaced.

We do not give personal shoppers their Instacart or Shipt fees or tips.

Buy Online and Pick Up in Store orders and Same Day Delivery orders paid for with a JCPenney credit card cannot be returned to a JCPenney or Sephora Inside JCPenney location or refunded to a JCPenney credit card.

The return must be made at a Sephora store that is not attached to another store. The customer will get a Sephora gift card or a Sephora store credit, depending on when the return is made. Look at the chart above to find out more.

If you paid with Klarna or Afterpay, and Sephora receives your new or gently used item within 30 days of the purchase, the purchase price will be refunded to the Klarna or Afterpay card used on the original transaction, which is stored in either Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your payment plan’s amount and length will be changed to match.

If you used Klarna or Afterpay to pay for a Buy Online and Pickup in Store or Same Day Delivery order and then returned a new or gently used item to Sephora within 30 days, the purchase price will be refunded to a credit or debit card of your choice.

This refund will NOT go to your Klarna or Afterpay account, and you MUST keep making payments to Klarna or Afterpay as agreed upon in the original contract.

If you paid with Klarna in a Sephora store, on a Buy Online and Pickup in Store order, or the Same Day Delivery order and Sephora receives your new or gently used item within 31–60 days of purchase, the purchase price will be refunded as a Sephora store credit that can be used in Sephora stores but not on sephora.com.

This refund will NOT be added to your Klarna account, and you MUST keep paying Klarna as agreed upon in the original contract.

To get a refund to your Klarna or Afterpay card through your Apple or Google wallet, you must select your Klarna or Afterpay card in your Apple or Google wallet.

The Beauty Insider points connected to your refund will be taken away when your refund is processed. All taxes that are required by law will be added on.

If you return a new or gently used item without a receipt and it is found in our system, it will be handled according to the refund and exchange policy for that item.

Any products that can’t be checked in our system won’t be able to get a refund, exchange, or credit for merchandise.

Within 60 days of purchase, you can also exchange a new or gently used Sephora product you bought in-store, through Instacart, or Shipt for another product.

Player’s Club Points can only be used to exchange items bought at the Mohegan Sun store. Exchanges must be made within 30 days of the purchase date.

Sephora at Kohl’s Returns

You Can’t return or exchange anything you bought From Sephora at Kohls’s in a Sephora store. Please go to a Sephora at Kohl’s store to return your purchase.

Orders From Buy Online that were picked up At a Kohl’s store must be returned to a Kohl’s store within 60 Days For a refund.
