Apple Return Policy – Easy Return – Refund & Exchange
Apple Return Policy – Everyone is familiar with Apple and its products. Do you, however, know how to return anything if it’s damaged or if you simply don’t like it? Not to worry. We are here to provide all the information you require on Apple’s return policy.
American global technology business Apple Inc. is headquartered in Cupertino, California. Consumer gadgets, software, and online services make up its core businesses.
Apple hopes you enjoy your new Apple product. But if you need to return something, we can assist you.
U.S. Returns & Refunds Policy
Standard Return Policy
You must remember the following when sending back an Apple product purchased online:
The return window is 14 days from the date you received the item.
Apple only accepts returns for products purchased from Apple itself, either online or in an Apple Retail Store. Returns and refunds for Apple products purchased from third-party sellers must be processed per those sellers’ policies.
Please repack your return with the original packaging, including any cords, adapters, and paperwork that came with the item.
However, the following are not eligible for a refund:
- Opened software*
- Electronic Software Downloads
- Software Up-to-Date Program Products (software upgrades)
- Apple Gift Cards (includes previous generation Apple Store Gift Cards and App Store & iTunes Gift Cards)
- Apple Developer products (membership, technical support incidents, WWDC tickets)
- Apple Print Products
Software that has not been installed on a computer can be returned. The software cannot be produced if the software license seal or sticker on the software media packaging has been broken.
iPhone and iPad Returns — Wireless Service Cancellation
Different mobile phone companies have other procedures for terminating service. Your wireless service agreement and any fees associated with your wireless account will still be in effect even after you return your iPhone or iPad. For more information, please get in touch with your service provider.
How to Return an Item
Ship your item back to Apple
Log in with your Apple ID and password on the Order Listing page to initiate a return.
Your most recent orders will be displayed after you sign in. To view the specifics of your order:
- Click on the desired item.
- Click the Get Started button after clicking the Start a Return link that appears directly under your article.
- Select the Initiate Your Return button after verifying the items you wish to return from your order on the following page.
Then, after reviewing the guidelines, you can print your return label and any required hazmat labels. Use the Print Return Label button again to print additional labels if you need to ship more than one box at a time. When returning a computer, please use the original packaging.
You can arrange a pickup from the carrier or bring the package to one of its drop-off points.
Puerto Rico
When shipping from Puerto Rico to the contiguous United States, additional procedures are needed for items that cost more than $2,50:
- Locate the commodity code of your item at http://www.apple.com/legal/more-resources/gtc.html.
- Visit https://ace.cbp.dhs.gov to file an Export Declaration.
- Follow the aforementioned instructions to initiate your return.
Bring your item to an Apple Store
Your purchase is returnable at any Apple Store in the United States. You can return your Apple product with the help of an Apple Specialist. At that time, your refund will be given to you.
You can use the Apple Retail Store Locator to find a local Apple Store. You must contact the Business Team if you need to make a return request for an item sent to your company directly.
Apple Refunds Policy
The refund process begins as soon as we receive your item. You will get a refund for any pickup items you no longer need as soon as you let us know you no longer need them after being charged for them. The refund procedure will be handled according to the method of payment initially used:
A credit or debit card refund will be issued to the card-issuing bank within five business days of receiving the returned item or cancellation request.
If you need more information, including when the credit will be applied to your account, you should contact the bank that issued your card.
Apple will issue you an electronic Apple Gift Card for any returned products paid for with an Apple Gift Card or an older generation of Apple Gift Card. Ask the agent who is helping you if they can mail you an Apple Gift Card if you prefer that option.
You will receive a credit back to your Apple Account Balance for any refunded purchases made with your Apple Account Balance.
Exchange an item
You can return or exchange your U.S.-purchased Apple product at any Apple Store in the country. Item swaps are dependent on the stores’ inventory levels.
If you want to ensure an item is in stock and ready for pickup at a nearby store, you can visit apple.com.
Personalized items (like engraved iPads or AirPods) and custom-configured Macs are the only items that cannot be returned or exchanged.
Returns for these items will be credited back to the original payment method (per the guidelines in our Standard Return Policy).
If your online Apple purchase arrived damaged or incorrect, you can return it to any Apple Store in the United States or call Apple’s customer service at 1-800-676-2775.
Apple Gift Returns Policy
Return a gift
Go to the Gift Returns page and do as instructed. The product’s order or serial number is required. In addition to the order number, please provide the universal product code (UPC) found on the package. See if anything you bought is returnable now.
You should know that you can only return items from one order at a time.
Fill out your preferences and contact info, and then proceed with your tax submission.
The instructions for filing your return can be found on the following page. Your prepaid shipping label and any required hazmat labels can be printed out by clicking the Print Return Label button.
Then, you can return the item to Apple by contacting the shipping company to arrange a pickup or by delivering it to any of the shipping company’s drop-off locations. When we get the package, we’ll let you know.
Please get in touch with an Apple Specialist at 1-800-MY-APPLE if you have any questions or concerns about your gift return. A visit to an Apple Store is another option for returning products that qualify.
Gift refunds
After we receive your returned goods, we will issue a refund via an Apple Store eGift Card that will be delivered to your email inbox.
Products, accessories, software, media, and services, such as iCloud, iTunes, App Store, and the App Store, can all be purchased with Apple Gift Cards.
Apple Store Gift Cards are redeemable on apple.com, in the Apple Store app, over the phone, and in physical Apple Stores. Apple Store gift cards are valid only in the country of purchase.
Visit the Payments & Pricing page for details on Apple Gift Cards, including how to redeem older versions of the cards.
iPhone, iPad and Watch Returns – Wireless Service Cancellation
There isn’t one universal cancellation policy among wireless providers. You are responsible for your wireless service agreement and any fees associated with your wireless account, even if you return your iPhone, iPad, or Watch. If you need assistance, you should contact your mobile network.
Apple Watch Returns Policy
Apple Watch from the Edition collection can only be returned or exchanged if it is in its original, undamaged, and unmarked condition and passes inspection at Apple’s offsite facility.
Depending on how you paid for the item in the first place, you will get a check, wire transfer, or credit to your debit or credit card within ten business days, as long as the item is in the same condition as when you bought it.
Additional Apple Product Terms
More terms and conditions about buying and using Apple products can be found at www.apple.com/legal/sla/. (Opens in a new window) and www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ (This link opens a new window.)
The iPhone software license agreement says that you can’t change the software on an iPhone without permission. The most common way to change an iPhone is to “break out of jail,” emphasizing the second part of that phrase.
Because of this, we strongly, almost strongly, urge you not to do it. Really. If you change the software on your iPhone without permission, you won’t be able to use it, and the warranty won’t pay to fix it.
Pricing and Price Reductions/Corrections
Apple has the right to change the prices of items sold at or on the Apple Store at any time and fix any pricing mistakes that happen accidentally.
You can find out more about fees and sales tax on the Payment & Pricing page (Which opens in a new window). If you bought something at an Apple Retail Store and were charged more than the price listed, you can get your money back by talking to a Manager.
Suppose Apple lowers the price of any Apple-branded product you bought within 14 calendar days of when you purchased it.
In that case, you can go to an Apple Retail Store or call the Apple Contact Center at 1-800-676-2775 to get a refund or credit for the difference between what you paid and what the product sells.
You must contact Apple within 14 calendar days of the price change to get a refund or credit. Please note that this doesn’t include price cuts that are only available for a short time, like those that happen on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
You can only get price protection for up to 10 units of a particular product. When you ask for price protection, we may also require that you have the product with you or some other proof that you own it.
All prices are given in U.S. dollars. If you use an international Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card to pay for your order, keep in mind that the price of your order may change depending on the exchange rate.
Also, your bank or credit card company may charge you fees for currency conversion, which can add to the cost of your purchase. Please talk to your bank or the company that gave you your credit card about these fees.
Order Acceptance/Confirmation
Apple has the right to refuse or cancel any order and limits how many orders can be made. Before accepting or processing an order, Apple may also need more qualifying information.
Once we get your order from the website or the call center, we’ll send you an email order confirmation.
When you get order confirmation, it does not mean that Apple has accepted your order or that we have confirmed our offer to sell. It just means that we have received your order.
Moreover, the Apple Store has the right to accept or turn down your order for any reason after receiving it. If Apple cancels an order after you’ve already been charged, it will give you back the amount you were charged.
Shipping & Delivery
Please look at the Shipping & Pickup page (Which opens in a new window) to find out how and when you will get the Apple Store items you bought.
Once your order leaves Apple’s facilities, it can be affected by many things that are out of Apple’s control. Because of this, Apple cannot be held responsible for late deliveries. We will work with you, though, to make sure the delivery goes smoothly.
Since Apple sends the products you buy to the Apple Store, the risk of loss or damage to the product(s) passes to you when you or someone you choose takes physical possession of the product(s) (s).
When the carrier picks up the product(s) from our warehouse, you become the owner of the product(s). At this point, the Shipment Notification Email will be sent to you. If there are problems with a delivery, please get in touch with Apple so they can be fixed.
In-Store Pickup and Return
Many of the items on Apple’s Online Store can be picked up in a store. But you might be unable to use the in-store pickup for all products and payment methods.
Only you or someone you choose can pick up the item(s) you bought. For pickup, you will need a photo ID from the government and your order number.
Apple will let you know when your order is ready and when you should pick it up. We’ll send you one or two reminders, just in case you forget.
Apple may cancel your order if you don’t pick it up. For more information about in-store pickup, please click here (It opens in a new window).
Pickup Contact
If you choose “pick up in store,” you can choose someone else to pick up your order. You must give the third partys name and email address.
Please note that some products and ways of paying can’t be picked up in-store by someone else. For pick-up, the third party will need to bring a photo ID from the government and the order number.
Once the third party has your item(s), Apple is not responsible for what they do with them.
Consumers Only
The Apple Store only sells and sends goods to customers who will actually utilize them. We reserve the right to reject or cancel your order if we believe you are purchasing goods to resell.
US Shipping Only
Moreover, the Apple Store reserves the right to reject or cancel your order if we believe you are purchasing goods to resell.
When buying, selling, exporting, re-exporting, transferring, and using products, these export laws and regulations must be adhered to.
Please click here for more about the international shop if you reside outside of the United States and wish to purchase Apple products online.
Product Availability and Limitations
Because of how popular some of our products are or how hard it is to get them, Apple may have to limit the number of products that can be bought.
We’re building them as fast as possible so you can trust us. Apple can change the number of items you can buy at any time, even after you’ve placed an order.
Also, there may be times when Apple confirms your order but later finds out it can’t give you the desired product. If we can’t give you the product you ordered, Apple will cancel the order and give you a full refund of the price you paid.
Gift Cards
For Apple Gift Card terms,
Apple Value Services manages Apple Gift Cards. They can only be used in Apple Stores, on apple.com, or by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE.
Gift cards can’t be reloaded, used for Apple Media Services, Apple resellers, cash (unless the law specifies otherwise), or international delivery. Adding a gift card to iOS’s Wallet app will work.
Apple and the card’s issuer aren’t responsible for lost, stolen, or illegal use. They’re precious and can be redeemed if found.
You must pay the difference if your new Apple product costs more than the gift card. We wanted to be sure, even though it’s obvious. Gift cards aren’t resold.
Where the law says no, no. Gift card terms and conditions can vary, and some items may not be available.
For terms, visit www.apple.com/go/agc. Virginia law governs gift card use.
To check a gift card balance, call 1-800-MY-APPLE or visit www.apple.com/go/gcb/us.
